some japanese art on a thursday

I am really into Japanese woodblock prints. They have such a clean and austere aesthetic about them that I find particularly soothing. This is probably one of the most famous and easily recognizable prints, displayed in sushi spots everywhere:

The Great Wave at Kanagawa, Katsushika Hokusai, 1831

Another Hokusai that I really like, Mount Fuji in Clear Weather

Red Plum and Moon, Utagawa Hiroshige

An Avenue at Nikko, Kawase Hasui, 1930

Lastly, something more contemorary in the Japanese woodblock style,
White Paws
, Annette Haines

science experiment # 2

It says on the label "only as much caffeine as a cup of coffee". I am juiced, but not uncomfortably so. This is no bees, but that is a good thing--no tachycardia or sweating. I bought two:)

the best holiday

11/27- Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. Gratitude is the open door to abundance. I have so much to be thankful for.

"Dear heavenly father, I would like to create an oppportunity for everyone to express their grace and thanks on this blessed eve. I myself am most thankful for love, life, and the ability to live from my heart. Help us to remember the true spirit of this holiday as we enjoy the bounty before us, the love that surrounds us, and both the company we now have the pleasure to enjoy and all other beings in the universe. Amen"

Then we rocked out with the House Band.

a prayer

Sending energy into the universe so that the camera may show up.

early thanksgiving 2008

11/22- My first introduction. Cook, eat, drink, hang out with some of the best people in the world. Love.

"Dear heavenly father, I want to take this opportunity to formally extend gratitude for the bounty placed before us, the hands that prepared it, and all of the mouths that have come here on this blessed afternoon to embrace mother earth's offering. Knowing that gratitude opens the door to abundance, I am again paying homage to you for your only son who died on the cross to forgive all of us worldly sinners. Help us to enjoy one anothers company and companionship for the remainder of the afternoon, honoring your will and extending compassion for the gift of love and life. Hallelujah. Amen."

yoga

I have been going to yoga at least once a week for the past 6 weeks or so. It's been a while since I have been on the mat regularly; I almost forgot how amazing it is to me. The space I am in when I am at the studio is at ease, in a place of comfort and growth. That space is where I want to be. Yoga challenges me in ways unlike anything else. It makes me stronger in new ways. It keeps me growing. It's part of the balance.
