Back down 8/16- more fun in the sun. We want to try to make it every weekend that it is nice out until it's too cold.

bikes
8/16- Rode 42 miles guided by Liam and his i phone. It was a steaming hot day, 95 degrees and what felt like 100% humidity. We started out with the intention of doing "only 30 miles or so, it's hot out so we don't want to be out forever", R. Sean's words. Not wanting to deal with the joggers and crowds on foot that is the Schuylkill bike path on a Saturday, we set out for West River Drive towards Montgomery county. We ended up, many hills later, riding through Upper and Lower Merion and landing finally, after many GPS checks, at the Conshy train station to ride the bike path back to the city. What started out as a good ride ended up a great one. The kind where you don't think you can go any more, but you are far away from home on your bike and you have to. So you ride it out, and when you get home you really feel you went somewhere. That is why I love to ride.
i conquered the hills
8/8- Rode (for the first time in weeks) 32 miles up and down some pretty rough hills around the Wilmington and Chadds Ford areas. The ride was for the Mike Clark Foundation, who was apparently a pretty tough guy. We were going to do the 100K, but opted for the 50K once we started and saw what the terrain looked like. "100K and 50K rides take cyclists through scenic New Castle County, DE and Chester County, PA traversing up to 15 of the most challenging hills in the area – Beaver Valley, Twaddell Mill, and Cannery, just to name a few." I should have known, reading this on their website beforehand. Well, I can safely say I conquered half the hills. And they had the best bike snacks I've seen on a ride so far.
